For the Sovereignty of the People was launched on Saturday the 7th of August 1999, in the Legislative Council Chamber of Queensland's Old Parliament House, Brisbane. Former Queensland Governor and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sir Walter Campbell AC QC, chaired the launch.

It subsequently had a similar event in Sydney, chaired by Dame Leonie Kramer AC DBE, then Chancellor of the University of Sydney and Professor of Australian Literature, and a London launch, at which expatriate Australian Clive James was kind enough to introduce the book.
